Suncor snags new chief financial officer from oilpatch rival Husky

CALGARY – Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) says it has hired Alister Cowan as its new chief financial officer.

Cowan has been CFO at fellow oilpatch firm Husky Energy Inc. (TSX:HSE) since 2008.

Husky says Cowan’s last day will be July 18 and an announcement about his replacement will be made in due course.

Suncor CEO Steve Williams says Cowan has 30 years of experience in charge of finances at energy and utility companies.

He says Cowan’s expertise will help with Suncor bolster its financial position and grow profitably.

Suncor had been on the hunt for a new CFO since late last year, when Bart Demosky left for a job at Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. (TSX:CP)
