Tembec forest plant workers in Quebec reject last company offer

TEMISCAMING, Que. – Unionized workers at the Tembec forest products facility in Temiscaming, Quebec have rejected the employer’s last offer.

Unifor says the vote by members of Local 233 was 94 per cent against and that the result also serves as a strike mandate for the union.

Unifor says its wants a solution at the bargaining table, but warns the vote shows the commitment of members to act if the employer remains “intransigent.”

The company (TSX:TMB) had issued its final offer on Nov. 7

Union representatives say they do not want to comment further, to avoid interfering with the negotiations.

Tembec employs more than 600 people at the Quebec facility which manufactures pulp, paper and cellulose specialties.
