Wesdome Gold Mines says contractor killed underground at Eagle River Mine

TORONTO – Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd (TSX:WDO) says an employee of a mining contractor was killed underground at the company’s Eagle River Mine in Ontario on Tuesday.

The company said underground operations for the night shift Tuesday and day shift Wednesday were suspended while it worked with authorities to determine the cause of the accident.

The Eagle River Mine is 50 kilometres west of Wawa, Ont.

Wesdome bought the property in 1994 and began commercial production in 1996.

In addition to Eagle River, Wesdome also has the Mishi mine and the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Que.
