Creating competitive advantage, mastering the vision statement, making your employees think and act more like owners and the tush-toning magic of Lululemon’s yoga pants are among the [potential] topics of interest to be explored at the upcoming PROFIT Growth Summit conferences, which make stops in Vancouver and Calgary this month.
PROFITguide.com readers can use discount code “PROFITGUIDE” to receive $100 off the regular conference rate of $329. Registration for the Vancouver Growth Summit closes this Friday, Sept. 6, while Calgary registration closes September 13.
Lululemon founder Chip Wilson will be the subject of an innovative Q&A session at the PROFIT Growth Summit on September 10 in Vancouver. Filling the role of moderator will be award-winning franchise entrepreneur Brian Scudamore, founder of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and 1-888-WOW-1DAY! Painting.
“This format, with one legendary Vancouver entrepreneur as interviewer and another as interviewee ensures the discussion will be lively and explore issues and experiences that truly matter to entrepreneurs,” says PROFIT publisher and editor-in-chief Ian Portsmouth. “What’s more is that Chip and Scudamore already know each other well, so the conversation should provide a few rare glimpses into the real life of Lululemon’s celebrated founder.”
Opening the Vancouver event is Jaynie Smith, author of the bestselling books Creating Competitive Advantage and Relevant Selling. Smith, a top-rated speaker from previous PROFIT events will reveal the hard truth about why customers buy from a company and how businesses should change their sales and marketing messages to connect with what customers really want. The event will close on the crucial subject of developing cultures of accountability and profitability, with a keynote presentation by Alex Freytag of Ownership Thinking LLC, an organization whose objective is to eradicate the sense of entitlement held by many members of today’s workforce.
Calgary entrepreneurs also have the opportunity to catch Freytag’s presentation on September 18 on the Alberta leg of the PROFIT Growth Summit tour. He’ll be preceded by Jamie Clarke, who might be best known to Calgarians as the outdoor adventure columnist for CBC Radio’s afternoon drive-time show. However, Clarke—who has summitted Mount Everest four times—is also a motivational speaker and the CEO of LiveOutThere.com, a thriving outdoor equipment e-tailer just named to PROFIT’s HOT 50 list of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies.
Starting the Calgary event’s keynote sessions will be Donald Cooper, a scion of the famed Cooper sporting goods family who built Alive & Well, once named Canada’s Retailer of the Year. In a presentation entitled “Vision Critical,” Cooper, now an incredibly energetic speaker and management consultant (he’s 71), will share the best insights and lessons from seven years of study “into how to improve clarity, commitment and accountability about the future of your business—and how to do that on one piece of paper.”
The agenda of both conferences are rounded out with panel discussions featuring the CEOs of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies, expert-led workshops and the PROFIT 500 Awards Luncheon, in which companies from each city will be celebrated for exceptional achievement in such areas as revenue growth and job creation.
