Looking for a way to get ahead in your business? Try playing a board game.
That’s the advice that some Edmonton entrepreneurs will be taking this Thursday night (March 3, 2011) as they join local business coach Laurie McNaughton for a rousing game of “Leverage.”
Leverage is a dice-and-board game created to teach business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs how to manage their businesses better. Developed by Australian entrepreneur Brad Sugars, the founder of the international ActionCoach franchise, the game focuses on nine key areas of business success to demonstrate how you can improve your business’s profitability and free up more personal hours for yourself at the same time.
It’s all in line with the E-Myth wisdom that entrepreneurs need to spend more time working “on” their business, not just in it. The promise of ActionCoach is, “Get more returns with less work.” As Sugars himself has said, “My definition of a business is a commercial, profitable enterprise that works without me.”
The ActionCoach website claims: “Be warned, this game will alter your perception and open your mind to what’s truly possible within a business.”
As part of Action Coach Edmonton’s 2011 marketing activities this year, McNaughton and his colleagues will be inviting local entrepreneurs to come out and play the game on several evenings this year. The March 3 event takes place in northeast Edmonton, at Suite 202, 12906 54th St., from 6 pm to 9 pm. There may even be refreshments.
Up to five people can play each game, and McNaughton says there will be several copies of the game available. “It’s a fun, educational tool,” says McNaughton, “and it’s a good way to expose people to ActionCoach.”
Other ActionCoach franchises in other parts of Canada may occasionally offer game nights of their own. You can also obtain your own copy of the game. For more information, use this link to contact a local coach in your area.
