Is it reasonable to expect a 50/50 split between female and male CEOs?

Women comprise a record 14% of PROFIT 500 CEOs or Co-CEOs on this year’s PROFIT 500 ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies. PROFIT has shared this good-news stat on a number of platforms, including Twitter. The response: good, but not good enough.

What do you think? Is it reasonable to expect a 50/50 split between female and male CEOs (rather that the 14/86 split on this year’s ranking)? Vote here or leave your comments below.

Are you a female business owner? You may qualify for the PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking and awards program, Canada’s largest celebration of entrepreneurial achievement by women.
