#40: Dominic Barton
Global Managing Director, McKinsey & Co.
Why he matters: Advises the world’s top CEOs
At the helm of the world’s most prestigious management consulting firm, where 80% of the world’s largest corporations go to receive counsel, sits Canadian Dominic Barton. He spent 29 years at the firm before becoming global managing director in 2009. Earlier this year, he was elected to a third term, after working to restore McKinsey’s reputation when two senior executives were convicted for insider trading. The image overhaul might even help Barton secure the remaining 20% of major corporations who don’t currently seek out McKinsey’s advice.
