Boring can be profitable—just look at the Koschitzky family, who owe their wealth to residential and commercial roofing products.
IKO Group was founded in 1951 by Israel Koschitzky, who previously worked at his father’s roofing company in Poland before he settled in Calgary. The company rode the postwar construction boom in Canada. IKO Group is now run by Israel’s grandson, David, who lives in Toronto and also serves as chair of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.
